Iran and Pakistan decide to “de-escalate” following standoff

Amman: Following their exchange of bombardments on militant targets within each other’s territory this week, Pakistan and Iran have “agreed to de-escalate” tensions, according to Islamabad.

According to the official media of the two nations, a statement released by the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran on a call stated that the two officials agreed on the necessity of stepping up working-level cooperation and close coordination on counterterrorism and other areas of shared interest.

Pakistan retaliated to Iran’s Tuesday night missile attack and drone strikes on what it called “terrorist” targets in Pakistan by hitting militant targets inside Iranian territory on Thursday.
