Intaj: Jordan’s Youth ‘Ready’ to Engage in Digital Economy

Amman: Nidal Bitar, CEO of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj), emphasized the pivotal role of digital transformation and entrepreneurship in driving innovation within Jordan. This assertion came amidst significant advancements in fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data technology, and cloud computing.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bitar, addressing the audience at the Masterminds Event during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025, highlighted a global surge in digital transformation efforts. He cited reports predicting global spending on digital transformation to reach approximately $4 trillion by 2027, with the sector experiencing a 16% annual growth rate. Furthermore, 74% of organizations worldwide now prioritize digital transformation as a strategic goal.

Bitar noted that, as outlined in an Intaj statement, 90% of companies globally are engaged in transformation projects, with digital shifts impacting sectors such as industry, health, education, transportation, agriculture, and government.

He identified six key capabilities crucial for successful digital transitions: a clear strategy, a focus on commercial value, organizational readiness, investment in digital skills, a culture of change, and seamless integration of technology, processes, and people.

In Jordan, 46% of the youth population is of working age and “ready” to contribute to the digital economy. Bitar emphasized the potential this represents if managed effectively.

He further elaborated on the requirements for entrepreneurial success, including comprehensive research, market analysis, understanding the target audience, and adaptability.

Bitar reiterated Intaj’s dedication to supporting entrepreneurs through mentorship, empowerment programs, market access, and by connecting startups with investors. He concluded by asserting that Jordan possesses the resources to emerge as a regional hub for technological innovation.
