Income, sales tax revenues stand at JD4bln to last September -ISTD

The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD)’s revenues went up during the January-September period nearly reaching JD4 billion, compared to JD3.534 billion in 2020.

In a press statement on Sunday, the ISTD said the growth rate in revenues during the past nine months 2021 amounted to 13%, in comparison with the same period in 2020.

The department said income tax collections increased during the first nine months 2021, reaching JD1,036 billion, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to JD962 million, marking an increase of 8%.

The department indicated that the department’s total sales tax collections during the past nine months 2021 amounted to about JD2,955 billion, while revenues amounted to JD2,571 billion during the same period last year, constituting a 15% increase.

The ISTD said the revenue growth was a result of the department’s tax reforms, its plans to address tax distortions and imbalances, and raise efficiency of tax collection and auditing in accordance with the “best” tax practices.

The department noted enhancing confidence with taxpayers had a “positive” effect, especially in the settlements and conciliation with taxpayers, who have pending tax cases.
