Nagoya:Boxer Hussein Ishaish has guaranteed a medal for Jordan at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya by advancing to the men's under-80kg semifinals.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ishaish achieved this milestone with a quarterfinal victory over China's Wang. This win ensures Ishaish a place on the podium, regardless of the outcome in his semifinal match.
Ishaish's journey at the Games began with a win against Kyrgyzstan's Omar Bek, followed by his successful bout against the Chinese opponent in the quarterfinals.
Jordan has further chances to secure boxing medals, as Zeyad Ishaish and Huthaifa Ishaish are set to compete in their respective quarterfinals on Monday. Zeyad Ishaish will challenge Tajikistan's Saidov Shamsher in the men's under-70kg category, while Huthaifa Ishaish will face Japan's Yamaguchi in the under-55kg division. Wins for both would advance them to the semifinals, guaranteeing additional medals for Jordan.
