Riyadh, A total of 96 European horses coming from Belgium on board of two planes has arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to participate in the final round of the Longines Global Championship Tour.
The Saudi Equestrian Events company (SEEc), wholly owned by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation (SAEF), has equipped a special stable for the European horses at the tournament headquarters east of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD). The horses participating in the tournament are some of the finest and most expensive in the world.
The stables at the tournament headquarters can accommodate more than 300 horses. The organizing committee imposes strict procedures that participants must follow to protect the horses and riders, including quarantine procedures.
The organizing committee conducts sterilization procedures every 12 hours and takes the horses’ temperature. In addition, the committee specifies a daily training periods for each rider and his assistants and times to enter the stable after which the doors are closed, and designates horse groomer to monitor the horses and stables. Surveillance cameras are installed to maintain the safety of horses.
