Number of visitors to Historic Old Salt Museum increased to 28,000 during the first quarter of 2023, compared to the same period in 2019 and 2022, when the number only stood at 5,800 tourists. In statements on Thursday, Balqa Tourism Director, Mahmoud Arabiyat, said the number of visitors to the museum in 2019 did not exceed 2,000, while number in 2022 slightly grew to stand at 4,800. Arabiyat also noted increase in the number of foreign and local tourists was due to projects, activities, events and programs implemented by Ministry of Tourism in the central city of Salt within its 2023 plan, its marketing campaigns launched,in cooperation with Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), and recovery from Covid-19 crisis. Arabiyat referred to role of “Urdun Jannah” programme, which encourages domestic tourism, and its “effective” contribution to reviving tourism in Salt city, in addition to developing tourist product and trails and diversity of tourism and cultural projects and services, which contributed to enriching the visitor’s experience and increasing stay duration.
