HCST Launches Research Day at Jordanian Public Universities

Amman: Higher Council For Science And Technology (HCST), in cooperation with the European Commission, organized the “Jordanian-European Research Day 2025” at the University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Mutah University. Hundreds of Jordanian researchers, academics, and representatives from universities and research institutions attended the event.

According to Jordan News Agency, the event aimed to enhance the engagement of Jordanian researchers in the EU programs such as Horizon Europe, PRIMA, and COST. It focused on highlighting the dimensions of these programs in the research and innovation fields, as well as mechanisms for integrating researchers’ roles to achieve a broader impact and increase opportunities for funding.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, HCST Secretary-General, Dr. Mashhour Rifai, stated that the event is part of the Council’s strategic efforts to prepare researchers to submit quality projects that can compete internationally and secure necessary funding. He emphasized the Council’s cooperation with universities and research institutions to consolidate research collaborations with the EU and expand the base of beneficiaries from its funding programs.

Dr. Rifai highlighted that this effort would contribute to supporting national development priorities, particularly in areas such as water, energy, food security, artificial intelligence, and agriculture. Meanwhile, European Commission Representative Dr. Hiba Jaber commended the HCST’s efforts in building strong research partnerships with the EU. She stressed the Commission’s desire to increase the participation of Jordanian universities in EU-funded projects and programs.

The three-day program provided participants with insights into the mechanisms to benefit from EU support programs.
