Hammo: Tamatem Games ranks 1st in region

Tamatem Games, a Jordan-based mobile game developer and publisher, ranks first in the Arabic language in the Middle East and North Africa, said Hussam Hammo, CEO and Founder of Tamatem Games. Since 2013, Tamatem published more than 50 games and had over 150 million downloads across their portfolio and more than 1 million active users per month, he told Petra in an interview. Hammo said his company has about 150 employees, including 85 in Jordan, and offices in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and one will open soon in Cairo, adding that it will provide fun games in the Arab market. He said a key challenge facing the gaming industry is a dearth of qualified and skilled people, especially as Jordanian universities do not have electronic gaming courses in their curricula, and therefore those working in this profession have to learn it on their own. Hammo also said it is hard to attract foreign labor, and also cited weak marketing of the gaming industry as other key hurdles, noting that most successful gaming companies in the Arab world are Jordanian. He referred to “lucrative” salaries of game makers, adding that courses on the internet are available for beginners and urging the government to adopt the new technology and ease regulations for entrepreneurs to attract investments “as in other countries”. Hammo said Tamatem is currently focused on developing and launching more games, and expanding its business in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Arab Gulf countries, adding his company is interested to enter the eSports world, which involves mobility and playing at the same time, and also plans to enter the metaverse world, which is the future.
