Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali Radovan to discuss economic cooperation and regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi and Alabali Radovan focused on expanding cooperation programs between Jordan and Germany, particularly in the areas of water and vocational training. Safadi expressed gratitude for Germany's ongoing support of developmental projects in Jordan and its assistance in addressing the impact of regional crises.
The discussions also addressed efforts to de-escalate tensions with Iran, aiming to restore security and stability in the region by adhering to principles that uphold international law, good neighborliness, and regional security. Both diplomats emphasized the importance of diplomacy to prevent escalation and maintain regional and international peace.
Safadi provided an overview of the situation in occupied Gaza and the occupied West Bank, urging for increased efforts to halt illegal Israeli actions that jeopardize the two-state solution and prospects for a just and lasting peace. He highlighted the need to lift restrictions on freedom of worship for Muslims and Christians in the occupied Palestinian territories and to respect the historical and legal status quo of holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.
Furthermore, Safadi advocated for continued support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), acknowledging Germany's backing of the agency to ensure it can sustain its essential operations across its five areas of activity.
