Abu Dhabi: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, participated in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The session was held under the theme: “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in a Changing World.”
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting addressed collective efforts to halt the dangerous escalation in the region due to Israeli aggression against Iran, which poses a threat to regional security and stability. The discussion also focused on finding ways to immediately end Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and ensure the entry of aid to the region, which is enduring an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
Safadi, who led an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League on Friday regarding the repercussions of the Israeli aggression against Iran, emphasized Jordan’s call for united efforts to end the aggression and regional escalation. He underscored the need for comprehensive calm, which can only be achieved by curbing Israeli aggression against Iran and Gaza and halting illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, as well as attacks on Syria and Lebanon.
Safadi reiterated that the only way to establish security, stability, and peace in the region is by ending the occupation and implementing the two-state solution, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. In addition to the conference, Safadi held separate meetings with his counterparts from Algeria, Syria, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
