Madaba: A medical team at Al-Nadeem Government Hospital in Madaba performed the first laparoscopic surgery to remove a kidney from a patient with a large tumor. The groundbreaking procedure marks a significant development in the hospital’s medical capabilities.
According to Jordan News Agency, hospital director Baha’ al-Din al-Halalmeh stated that this operation is part of the Ministry of Health’s initiative to enhance Al-Nadeem Hospital and alleviate the burden on central hospitals across the Kingdom. The procedure is known for its complexity and involves the removal of the kidney through four small keyhole incisions in the abdomen rather than traditional surgery in the flank.
Dr. Rashed al-Khalayleh, the kidney and urinary tract specialist who supervised the surgery, highlighted that the laparoscopic method is advantageous due to the patient’s rapid recovery, facilitated by the absence of a large incision in the abdomen. This advancement represents a significant step forward for the hospital in providing advanced medical care.
