Amman: The Ministry of Environment has initiated the distribution of 255 plastic waste bins, each with a capacity of 240 liters, to several southern governorates. This measure is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to assist municipalities in addressing the issue of indiscriminate garbage dumping.
According to Jordan News Agency, the distribution targeted the southern governorates of Tafilah, Ma'an, Karak, and the Petra region. The initiative aims to fulfill the municipalities' needs and improve cleanliness in both urban and tourist areas. The ministry plans to extend this effort to additional regions in future phases as necessary.
The ministry emphasized that this initiative is a "comprehensive and sustainable" national effort aimed at reducing indiscriminate waste disposal. It is carried out under the executive program, which seeks to bolster environmental infrastructure in municipalities and tourist and archaeological sites. This is expected to achieve ecological sustainability, protect public health, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the targeted cities.
Furthermore, the ministry stressed the importance of collaboration among official institutions and the local community to ensure the success of these initiatives. Citizens are encouraged to use the designated containers and contribute actively to maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
