Amman: Technology and business experts assert that entrepreneurship is reshaping the economy, driving growth, innovation, and job creation as Jordan accelerates its transition to a digital and knowledge-based future. They note that entrepreneurship is now seen as a broader economic engine strengthening entire sectors by turning ideas into scalable ventures.
According to Jordan News Agency, there is a growing recognition from international bodies. During a recent visit to Jordan, World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde emphasized that entrepreneurship should be viewed as a practical pathway to economic expansion, employment, and long-term prosperity. Local ICT sector representatives, including Haitham Al-Rawajbeh, highlighted startups' roles in job creation, particularly in fields such as programming and technical support.
Al-Rawajbeh noted that entrepreneurship introduces new solutions and upgrades services, requiring a strong ecosystem of funding, training, mentorship, and simplified regulations. Academics like Dr. Reham Zughair from Luminus Technical University College echoed this, explaining that entrepreneurship reshapes economies by creating new business models and sustainable impacts.
Private sector voices, such as entrepreneur Hussam Hammo of Tamatem Games, showcased Jordan's tech success stories, illustrating how startups can evolve into regional players. Similarly, entrepreneur Nour Khreis pointed out that entrepreneurship generates indirect jobs through partnerships and supply chains, while intrapreneurship drives internal improvements within companies.
The report concluded that strengthening support for small and medium enterprises, encouraging innovation, and aligning with Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision are essential steps toward building a dynamic and sustainable economy.
