Egypt: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with the First Lady, Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, welcomed President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China and his spouse at Al-Ittihadiya Palace as part of the Chinese President's official visit to Egypt.
According to African Press Organization, the reception ceremony was marked by a guard of honor, a 21-gun salute, and the playing of the national anthems of both countries. The event concluded with a commemorative photograph featuring both Presidents and First Ladies.
Following the reception, an expanded session of talks was held, attended by delegations from both countries. Key outcomes of the talks included the signing of an agreement and several memoranda of understanding. President El-Sisi and the First Lady hosted a luncheon in honor of President Xi, his spouse, and the accompanying delegation. President El-Sisi delivered a speech at the outset of the talks.
President Xi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized China's appreciation for its cooperative relations with Egypt. He reiterated China's interest in enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2014 and encouraged Chinese companies to invest in Egypt, leveraging the strategic advantages offered by the Egyptian market.
The discussions also covered ongoing technical cooperation in infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and agriculture. The leaders discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the need for diplomatic solutions to crises.
The talks addressed efforts to reduce Middle Eastern tensions, and both leaders supported efforts toward a comprehensive agreement to end the war. President El-Sisi highlighted the importance of de-escalation and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan.
Developments in the Palestinian cause were also discussed. President El-Sisi underscored the need for a just settlement in line with international legitimacy resolutions and emphasized the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He praised China's support for Palestinian rights and the two-state solution.
President El-Sisi also emphasized the importance of the Nile River to Egypt's water and food security and urged adherence to international law among Nile Basin countries. President Xi acknowledged Egypt's efforts under President El-Sisi's leadership to establish regional peace and stability.
The two presidents agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and increase consultations on common interests. Important documents were signed between Egyptian and Chinese entities during the visit.
