Deputizing for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal F. Alibrahim headed a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the 2023 SDG Summit in New York, where discussions are held with the aim of accelerating progress toward reaching the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the 2030 Agenda.
This year’s SDG Summit is the second of its kind since the 2030 Agenda was adopted in 2015. It runs from September 18 to 19, during the United Nations General Assembly high-level week at the UN headquarters, under the theme “Rescue Plan for People and Planet”.
The SDG Summit attendees include heads of state, senior government officials, thought leaders, representatives of international organizations, the private sector and civil society. The summit will be chaired by the United Nations General Assembly president.
Alibrahim is scheduled to hold meetings with several government officials.
The SDG Summit is a platform to provide political leadership on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs, identify progress and emerging challenges, and mobilize further action to accelerate implementation.
