COVID kills 17 in Jordan, positive tests at three percent

COVID-19 killed 17 in Jordan in the last 24 hours, as the death toll stands at 9,276 and a total of 1,104 cases were recorded, pushing the caseload to some 725,260, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Breaking down Monday’s tally, the MoH said 481 cases were recorded in Amman, 168 in Irbid, 106 in Zarqa, 87 in Balqa, 74 in Karak, 35 in Tafilah, 35 in Mafraq, 35 in Ajloun, 32 in Madaba, 25 in Jerash, 25 in Aqaba and one in Maan.

The MoH said in a press statement that some 70 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals while 81 others were admitted, as the total number of COVID-19 patients receiving medical treatment in hospitals stands at 706.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom hovers around 11,085, it added.

More than 704,890 COVID-19 patients, including patients who had been self-isolating, have fully recovered so far.

Around 3.5 percent of COVID-19 tests that were conducted today came back positive compared with 4.2 Sunday.
