COVID death toll in UK decreases

London, More than 28,000 COVID-19 cases were recorded in the UK in the first week of 2023, according to official figures.

According to a weekly update published by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) between January 1 and January 7, COVID-19 infections decreased by 25.8 per cent compared to the previous week.

The Department added that the number of deaths during the 28 days of a positive test for the virus recorded during the week ending in the same period reached 891, a decrease of 16.5 per cent compared to the previous week.
