Consultative Meeting Held on Draft Political Declaration for Upcoming World Summit

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa chaired a consultative meeting on the draft political declaration for the Second World Summit for Social Development, which is set to take place in Doha this November. The meeting saw participation from key stakeholders including Secretary-General of the Ministry Barq Dhmour and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on the draft declaration formulated during the Arab-Regional preparatory meeting for the upcoming summit. Bani Mustafa highlighted the importance of the Amman-Berlin Declaration, issued at the 2025 Global Disability Summit, co-hosted by Jordan and Germany. She emphasized the declaration’s role in advancing initiatives for persons with disabilities, an area strongly advocated by HRH Prince Mired bin Raad.

The minister stressed the need for inclusive education for persons with disabilities, aligning with Jordan’s national efforts to ensure their full integration. She also addressed the rights of orphans and children without parental care, emphasizing the significance of fostering and alternative care in maintaining family cohesion.

Bani Mustafa further advocated for institutionalizing a framework for social response during crises and disasters, suggesting coordinated mechanisms at various levels. This initiative aligns with the ministry’s strategy to develop an early warning system for crisis response.

Participants in the meeting shared their feedback on the draft declaration, which will be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs for further processing with relevant stakeholders.
