Cabinet Approves Reforms on Education and Public Sector Modernization

Amman: The Cabinet has approved significant reforms aimed at enhancing scientific research and innovation support while also modernizing public sector operations. Among the key decisions is the endorsement of the rationale for the draft bylaw concerning the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund for 2025. This draft will be forwarded to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for approval, marking a crucial step in aligning with the evolving needs of the public sector.

According to Jordan News Agency, the draft bylaw is designed to complement the issuance of Law No. 6 of 2025, which amends previous legislation concerning the restructuring of government institutions and departments. A pivotal component of this amendment is Article 7, which mandates the transfer of the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the Higher Council for Science and Technology. This transition designates the Fund as the legal and de facto successor of the council, providing a robust legal framework for its new affiliation.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved the implementation of the 2017 Instructions for the Electronic Tracking System for Government Vehicles and Machinery. This specifically pertains to vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, which are utilized for transporting untreated organic fertilizer. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding public health and the environment by regulating the transportation of untreated organic fertilizer, ensuring adherence to best practices to minimize potential environmental harm.
