Irbid: Director of Princess Basma Teaching Hospital Ibrahim Shahabat inaugurated a specialized clinic for keratoconus treatment in the hospital’s outpatient ward. He commended the efforts of the medical and technical staff, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to developing specialized services despite the pressure on various departments.
According to Jordan News Agency, Head of the ophthalmology department Nisreen Makhdameh noted that the new clinic is a significant milestone for both the Princess Basma Hospital’s ophthalmology department and the Ministry of Health. The clinic is expected to reduce the need for patient transfers to external hospitals, thus saving time and effort for patients.
Cornea consultant Widad Dolat explained that corneal cross-linking, a method offered at the new clinic, is one of the latest internationally-approved medical techniques to prevent the progression of keratoconus, a condition that can lead to vision loss if not treated early.
Faisal Abu Al-Shaer from the outpatient clinic described the new facility as an important medical advancement aimed at enhancing treatment services for eye patients.
