Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalayleh on Sunday attended the graduation ceremony of the top-achieving students of the free summer Quran memorization centers nationwide.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khalayleh stated that the ministry’s summer centers, launched this year under the theme “Together We Protect Tomorrow’s Generations from Drugs,” are part of an effort to safeguard Jordanian children from the dangers of drugs by raising awareness of their harmful effects.
Khalayleh highlighted the importance of shared partnerships in combating drug abuse and reiterated the ministry’s commitment to maintaining the Kingdom’s security and stability, promoting values of moderation, and showcasing the positive aspects of the Islamic religion. Furthermore, he emphasized the ministry’s broader mission to address various societal issues.
The minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and praised the dedication of its personnel in preserving the society’s security and safety.
Dr. Hatem Suhaimat, the ministry’s Assistant Secretary-General and Director of Sharia Education, reported that 235,000 male and female students participated in the 3,633 summer centers this year. He noted that the awareness-raising programs on drug dangers extended to parents, university students, and local community representatives through dialogue sessions organized in collaboration with the AND and other relevant police partners and stakeholders.
