Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, has announced that the Zakat Fund will alleviate the financial burdens of more than 100 indebted women by paying off their loans during the upcoming month of Ramadan. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to support economically disadvantaged families through non-refundable grants and Eid cash gifts.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Khalayleh made these announcements at the Government Communication Forum, an event organized by the Ministry of Government Communication. He emphasized the importance of conducting charitable activities with dignity and confidentiality, avoiding any media or political exploitation, and stressed the rejection of photographing impoverished families.
Dr. Khalayleh also highlighted that while preachers are provided with key themes and scholarly materials, they are not obligated to follow a specific text, allowing them to address societal issues within a moderate Islamic discourse. This approach aims to foster a balanced dialogue and prevent extremism.
Furthermore, Dr. Khalayleh assured that residents of the Gaza Strip receive equal treatment in all ministry services, including pilgrimage opportunities and access to Zakat Fund programs. He outlined plans for Ramadan, which include educational and media programs in mosques across the nation, and activities at the Al-Aqsa Mosque to boost public confidence.
The Zakat Fund's Ramadan campaign will distribute 12,000 shopping coupons and 40,000 food parcels, provide cash gifts to poor households and orphans, deliver productive projects, restore homes for underprivileged families, and host group Iftars and charitable gatherings. These efforts aim to support those in need and demonstrate the ministry's commitment to community welfare.
