Cairo: The Secretary-General of the Arab League has issued a stern warning about the serious consequences following the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist settlers. Nabil Fahmy condemned the incursion by thousands of settlers, which occurred on Thursday under the protection of occupation police and included participation from Israeli government ministers.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Fahmy stated that the frequency of these incursions has increased significantly in recent months. He highlighted that this reflects an ongoing plan to divide Al-Aqsa both temporally and spatially. Fahmy emphasized the seriousness of the plan, which is driven by a group of Israeli extremists who influence the policies of the occupation government.
Fahmy stressed that Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or the Islamic and Christian holy sites within. He underscored that Israel's attempts to alter the legal and historical status of the Old City violate international law. Fahmy warned of the serious consequences if these systematic violations and incursions continue, especially with the approval and participation of the occupation authorities and extremist ministers.
He further noted that the actions of the occupation government provoke the sentiments of Arabs and Muslims, risking escalation and increasing anger over the disregard for holy sites. Fahmy reminded that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, is the authorized body to manage Al-Aqsa and regulate access to it.
