Cairo: Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to the Arab League and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people during his speech at the Extraordinary Arab Summit, the “Palestine Summit,” hosted by Egypt. He called on the international community to pressure Israel to withdraw from Syrian territories.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Sharaa stressed Syria’s determination to pursue a better future despite ongoing challenges, praising Arab nations that have extended support to his country. He also condemned Israel’s continued violations of Syrian sovereignty through expansionist and aggressive policies, emphasizing that Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights remains an ongoing infringement on Syrian rights.
Meanwhile, Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, warned that the displacement of Palestinians poses a serious threat to regional security. He firmly rejected any attempts to forcibly relocate them and reiterated Sudan’s unwavering support for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Al-Burhan also addressed Sudan’s internal conflict, stating that his country is ready for an immediate ceasefire, provided that the Rapid Support Forces withdraw from key sites. He noted that Sudanese authorities have presented a roadmap for a comprehensive national dialogue that includes all parties.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm rejection of any violation of Palestinian rights, expressing hope that the extraordinary summit would help end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. He stressed the need for guarantees to prevent a resurgence of war in the enclave, asserting that Gaza’s reconstruction must ensure that its residents remain in their land. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s consistent support for a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians.
Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah stated that discussions surrounding the forced displacement of Gaza’s residents amount to ethnic cleansing. He called for a unified Arab legal stance holding Israel accountable for rebuilding Gaza and emphasized that peace cannot be imposed through force or displacement but must be achieved through the implementation of international law.
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi underscored the GCC’s backing for Saudi-led international efforts to achieve a two-state solution, stating that lasting peace can only be achieved through this framework. “No to the displacement of Palestinians from their land. Israel commits daily crimes against them, and Palestinian land is not up for negotiation,” Al-Budaiwi said, stressing that the Palestinian people are not alone and that their rights cannot be erased. He also commended Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the international committee working toward a two-state solution, asserting that just peace requires adherence to international law.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s active support for an independent Palestinian state, calling for unity among Arab nations in aiding Palestinian reconstruction efforts. He echoed the regional rejection of any displacement of Gaza’s residents and warned that the real threat lies in attempts to erase Palestinians from history.
