Albudaiwi: Saudi Arabia’s Announcement of Establishment of Global Water Organization is an Initiative that Reflects its Distinguished Efforts

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, stated that the announcement by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the establishment of the Global Water Organization is an initiative that reflects the outstanding efforts of the Kingdom.

The GCC Secretary General’s remarks came following the announcement by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, regarding the establishment by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the Global Water Organization based in Riyadh. The organisation aims to enhance and integrate the efforts of countries and organisations in addressing water challenges comprehensively.

Commenting further, Albudaiwi pointed out that this step affirms the Kingdom’s significant role in addressing water challenges globally and its commitment to environmental sustainability by tackling water-related hurdles worldwide. He commended the Kingdom’s previous efforts in coordinating actions to address issues arising from climate change, including its impact on water resources.

Moreover, the GCC Secretary General emphasised that the establishment of the Global Water Organization would serve as a valuable tool in addressing water-related obstacles at international level as its objectives revolve around the exchange and enhancement of technical expertise, innovation, research, and development, in addition to enabling the introduction of priority qualitative projects and facilitating their financing, in an effort to ensure the sustainability of water resources and create opportunities accessible to everyone.
