Ajloun Agriculture Directorate Launches Training on Non-Traditional Cheese Production

Ajloun: The Ajloun Agriculture Directorate recently conducted a specialized training course titled "Dairy Processing -- Production of Non-Traditional Cheeses," as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's Farmer Field Schools initiative.

According to Jordan News Agency, the course was held under the patronage of Ajloun Agriculture Director Seitan Sarhan. It was organized in collaboration with the Rasoun Youth Center and is part of the broader project "Achieving land degradation neutrality targets through restoration and sustainable management of degraded land in Northern Jordan." This initiative is supervised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project is implemented in cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society and overseen by the Directorate of Extension Programs in the agricultural extension sector.

The training, carried out by the directorate's agricultural extension department, offered hands-on experience in producing spreadable cheese, a model of non-traditional cheese. The goal is to enhance the added value of agricultural products and empower local communities, especially in rural areas, to establish small-scale productive enterprises.

Organizers highlighted the significance of such training programs in disseminating practical knowledge to farmers and beneficiaries, enhancing their food processing skills, and ultimately supporting agricultural sustainability and improving income sources.

The course supervision was provided by an agricultural extension team consisting of engineers Omar Qawaqneh, Omar Qudah, and Ayat Abu Zeitoun, along with Khadijah Atiyat, a representative from the Royal Scientific Society.
