Agreement signed to automate Swaqa rehabilitation facility’s health center

The Ministry of Health and Electronic Health Solutions Co (EHS) on Sunday announced a cooperation agreement was inked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to automate Swaqa Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre (SCRC)’s health center, some 70 kilometers south of Amman.

Under the agreement signed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Hawari, EHS’s CEO, Omar Ayesh, and the ICRC’s Sarah Avrilo, EHS’s “Hakeem” program, the first national initiative of its kind to automate Jordan’s public healthcare sector, will network SCRC’s health center “gradually.”

In remarks following the agreement, Ayesh said SCRC’s automation comes within the EHS’s plans to computerize health sector facilities to increase medical management’s efficiency and effectiveness and raise health care standards provided to citizens to keep pace with international practices.

The agreement to automate SCRC’s health center also aims to ensure that inmates receive an electronic health record to follow up their medical status and history, Ayesh noted, adding that this step will be implemented in all reform and rehabilitation centers in the Kingdom.
