Amman: The Director General of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC), Mohammad Doujan, and Dr. Riyad Shiyab, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Healthcare and Epidemics, have signed a cooperation agreement to renew and implement the Healthy Villages Project. This initiative is designed to enhance health, social, and economic conditions in rural areas of Jordan, focusing on sustainable development by empowering residents to initiate small income-generating projects.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement involves the ACC allocating JD1 million in interest-free loans to eligible participants. These loans are intended to support the establishment of projects that align with the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) and development priorities. The Ministry of Health will cover the interest costs for borrowers in the approved villages.
The loans, capped at JD5,000 per individual, are repayable over a period of up to five years. The selection criteria for these loans emphasize the capacity of villagers to develop economically viable agricultural projects. This agreement aims not only to achieve the objectives of the EMV but also to economically empower villagers, stimulate rural agricultural activities, and provide sustainable job opportunities, thereby improving quality of life and fostering development across the Kingdom.
