Amman:The Ministry of Agriculture has officially launched the 14th national campaign to market Jordanian olive oil for the 2026/2027 agricultural season. This initiative is part of a tripartite cooperation agreement signed with the Jordan Farmers Union (JFU) and the Olive Oil Producer and Mill Owner Syndicate, aimed at supporting olive farmers and promoting the national product.
According to Jordan News Agency, the campaign's objective is to facilitate access to Jordanian olive oil for consumers, particularly employees of participating institutions, at favorable prices and through convenient purchasing mechanisms. Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khreisat emphasized the campaign's significance in supporting the agricultural sector and its role in boosting consumer confidence in the local product.
Dr. Khreisat stated that the campaign will allow ministries, official institutions, and public sector entities to offer olive oil to their staff and their families with flexible payment options, including cash or installment plans over eight months. The oil will be available in two container sizes, 16 kg and 8 kg, to meet the different needs of beneficiaries.
To ensure the quality of the olive oil, the campaign will include sample collection for chemical and sensory testing, conducted in cooperation with relevant authorities. This process is designed to verify compliance with approved standards and specifications, prevent adulteration, and bolster public trust in the product.
He also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Ministry, the JFU, and the syndicate as crucial to the campaign's success. Representatives from the JFU and the syndicate echoed this sentiment, calling for continued collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture to implement the campaign effectively. They noted the ministry's role in supporting farmers, enhancing marketing opportunities, and strengthening the presence of Jordanian olive oil in the local market, which they said will have positive impacts on both the agricultural and economic sectors.
