Karak:Amman The Cabinet commenced its Sunday morning session, led by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, by reciting Al-Fatiha for the souls of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Karak.
According to Jordan News Agency, the prime minister expressed condolences to the people of Karak and the families of the victims of the attack, which occurred last Friday. He also wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
The attack claimed the lives of nine Jordanians, including Dr. Maher Adel Zureiqat, Ihab Nayef Halsa, Dr. Fadi Asim Halsa, Dr. Khaled Mikhail Halsa, Dr. Asim Amin Burqan, Alaa Khalil Masarweh, Marwan Khalil Khaitan, Dr. Mohammad Yousef Qassous, and Mazen Rasmi Qassous. Prime Minister Hassan highlighted the growing spread of extremism, religious intolerance, and takfiri ideology over the past 40 years, emphasizing the need to eradicate these ideologies at their roots.
Hassan reiterated that Jordan has no place for such extremist ideologies and has been actively combating takfiri extremist groups over the past decade. He stressed that fighting extremism is not only a security issue but also involves a battle of awareness and ideas, warning that societies crumble when plagued by discord, fanaticism, racism, and extremism.
The prime minister advocated for diversity, cohesion, and openness as key components for fostering intellectual, scientific, civilizational, and cultural prosperity. These principles, he noted, are foundational to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and have been upheld by the Jordanian people under their Hashemite leadership.
Furthermore, Hassan assured that all state agencies are working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack and ensure they face appropriate justice.
