Karak:Amman Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi has condemned the terrorist attack at Hamoud Church in Karak Governorate, labeling it a cowardly act that threatens Jordan's security, stability, and social cohesion. In a statement issued on behalf of the Lower House, Qadi emphasized that the attack was unequivocally condemned on religious, moral, and national grounds, and stressed that there would be no leniency toward those responsible or anyone attempting to undermine Jordan's security and national unity.
According to Jordan News Agency, Qadi stated that such terrorist acts serve only the enemies of Jordan and agendas seeking to destabilize the region, fuel discord, and sow division among society members. He expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, praying for God's mercy upon the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured.
Qadi affirmed his confidence in the strength of the state and its institutions, which he said are capable of protecting the country and safeguarding its security and stability. He stressed that the rule of law would prevail and that no one would escape accountability. Highlighting Karak's longstanding record of national unity and coexistence, he noted the governorate's embodiment of bonds between its Muslim and Christian communities, who share the same homeland and destiny.
He added that the relations between Muslims and Christians in Jordan represent a deeply rooted partnership built on citizenship, human dignity, and the right to live in security and freedom. Jordan's religious and cultural diversity, Qadi stated, is a civilizational and humanitarian asset that must be protected. He asserted that confronting terrorism requires firmness, countering discord requires awareness, and combating hatred requires tolerance, urging Jordanians to remain vigilant and united.
Qadi criticized the perpetrators for abandoning the most basic values of humanity by violating the sanctity of places of worship, stating that their actions would only strengthen Jordanians' resolve and solidarity. He voiced confidence in the country's security agencies and national institutions, urging citizens to exercise the highest levels of awareness and responsibility.
He concluded by affirming that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, would remain resilient in the face of terrorism and sedition, with Karak continuing to stand as a model of national unity. Qadi prayed for Jordan's continued security and stability, for the protection of the King and the Jordanian people, and for mercy upon the victims and patience and solace for their families.
