Karak:Grand Mufti of Jordan Ahmad Al-Hassanat has condemned the attack on Al-Hammoud Church in Karak Governorate, calling it a heinous crime that violates Islamic law, which prohibits the unjust killing of human beings.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Hassanat emphasized in a statement issued Friday that Christian lives are as inviolable as Muslim lives and should never be subjected to aggression. He quoted the Quranic verse stating, "Whoever kills a person unjustly, it is as though he has killed all mankind."
The Grand Mufti further stated that targeting innocent people is an assault on the nation and its unity, aiming to sow discord and division among Jordanians. He assured that this criminal act would not affect the cohesion of Jordanian society or the values of coexistence and brotherhood among its members.
He also highlighted the importance of religious and national duty in condemning the attack and upholding values of cooperation and tolerance. Citing another Quranic verse, he urged cooperation in righteousness and piety, while rejecting sin and aggression. Al-Hassanat expressed his condolences to the victims' families, praying for God's mercy on them, a speedy recovery for the injured, and protection for Jordan and its people.
