Karak:Amman Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al-Khalaileh condemned the recent terrorist attack targeting a church in Karak Governorate. He described the incident as a bloody criminal act that is unequivocally rejected on both religious and humanitarian grounds and runs counter to the teachings of Islam and all other religions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Khalaileh emphasized that Jordan exemplifies national cohesion and unity, with its citizens united by brotherhood, love, and coexistence. He asserted that terrorism fails to distinguish between Muslims and Christians, emphasizing that such criminal acts do not reflect Jordan or its values of peace and tolerance.
He highlighted Jordan's role in promoting religious coexistence, citing initiatives like the Amman Message and the World Interfaith Harmony Week. He stated that targeting places of worship and innocent individuals contradicts Islam's core messages of compassion, humanity, and respect for others.
Al-Khalaileh further stressed that the perpetrators of such crimes do not represent true Islamic scholarship, underscoring that genuine religious knowledge does not condone attacks on innocent people or places of worship. He called for intellectual and ideological efforts, in addition to security measures, to combat extremist ideology and pursue those responsible.
He also extended sincere condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, praying for mercy for the deceased and a swift recovery for the injured.
