Irbid:The Greater Irbid Municipality has signed a significant agreement valued at nearly JD1 million with the Othman Al-Washahi Company to construct rainwater drainage lines across various city streets and areas. This project aims to address water accumulation problems and enhance drainage efficiency.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Head of the Greater Irbid Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azzam, formalized the agreement on Tuesday. The initiative is part of a broader effort to tackle locations that faced drainage issues during the previous winter season by installing main conveyers at valley outlets.
Assistant to the Municipal President for Engineering Affairs, Tahani Hazaimeh, highlighted that the project is in line with municipal infrastructure upgrade plans. It seeks to eliminate waterlogging, improve network performance, and safeguard lives and properties against flash flood risks, ensuring smooth traffic flow during the winter months.
Director of the Tenders and Assessments Directorate at the municipality, Enas Haddad, stated that the project is expected to be completed within 175 calendar days from the commencement date. Haddad assured that the field operations would adhere to high-quality standards, with the municipality overseeing all phases to ensure compliance with technical specifications and infrastructure readiness ahead of the rainy season.
