Amman:The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) has reported cumulative investment profits amounting to JD12.1 billion since its establishment in 2003, with assets increasing to JD20.1 billion from an initial JD1.6 billion. This was announced by SSIF CEO Izzeddin Kanakrieh during a recent briefing.
According to Jordan News Agency, the fund has benefited from approximately JD6.4 billion in cash surplus transfers from the Social Security Corporation (SSC), aiding in asset growth. At the Government Communication Forum, Kanakrieh, along with Ministry Secretary-General Zaid Nawaiseh, discussed the fund’s Q3 2026 financial results, active projects, and strategic investment plans.
Kanakrieh noted a significant shift in the fund’s investment strategy, focusing on major projects and forming strategic partnerships to diversify its portfolio and enhance long-term returns. The SSIF's return on assets stood at 8.3 percent by the end of Q3 2026, with assets growing by JD1.5 billion from JD18.7 billion at the end of 2025. The increase was credited to a comprehensive income of JD1.37 billion and an insurance surplus of JD110 million from the SSC.
The fund's investments include a JD1.1 billion real estate portfolio and JD4 billion in companies on the Amman Stock Exchange. Notable projects this year include stakes in the Aqaba-Shidiya-Ma'an railway and the National Water Carrier project. Collaboration efforts involve the Oman Investment Authority and the Saudi Jordanian Investment Fund.
Future initiatives aim to explore opportunities in technology, energy, and other sectors while maintaining a focus on sustainable returns and national economic support. Nawaiseh emphasized the importance of media engagement in providing accurate information and highlighted the resilience of Jordan's economy amidst regional challenges.
