Accra:Senate President Faisal Fayez held separate discussions with UAE Ambassador Sultan Al Shamsi and Azerbaijani Ambassador Shahin Abdullayev to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, investment partnerships, and addressing regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez emphasized the importance of strengthening political and economic ties with both the UAE and Azerbaijan. He advocated for expanding investment partnerships and activating bilateral agreements to advance shared interests between Jordan and these nations.
The discussions also touched upon key regional issues, including the Palestinian situation, the Iranian-US-Israeli conflict, and Iranian attacks on Jordan and Gulf Arab states. Fayez presented Jordan's stance on regional conflicts, highlighting the need for political solutions that align with international legitimacy and UN resolutions.
Fayez referenced His Majesty King Abdullah II's speech at the United Nations General Assembly, where the King condemned actions by the radical Israeli government against Palestinians. He reiterated the King's view that developments in the West Bank are interconnected with those in the Gaza Strip, pointing to increased settler violence, land seizures, and settlement expansion as war crimes and forced displacements.
Moreover, Fayez echoed the King's call for the international community to take action against Israeli aggression and ensure accountability for war crimes and massacres, stressing that impunity should not be allowed.
On the Iranian-US-Israeli conflict, Fayez urged for an end to the hostilities, noting that the repercussions of the conflict extend beyond the region to impact the international community. He reaffirmed Jordan's opposition to Iranian aggression against the Kingdom and Gulf Arab states.
The ambassadors praised King Abdullah II's efforts to foster regional security and stability, expressing their countries' dedication to enhancing economic cooperation with Jordan and implementing bilateral agreements. They also emphasized the need for ongoing coordination on mutual concerns and the pursuit of peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
