Amman:The 16th edition of the Bromine Amman Marathon is scheduled for Friday under the patronage of His Highness Prince Firas bin Raad. Runners from Jordan and abroad are expected to participate in the annual event, held under the slogan "Run in the Heart of Amman." The marathon has retained the World Athletics Road Race Label for the second consecutive year, reinforcing its status on the international road-racing calendar.
According to Jordan News Agency, preparations for the event have reached their final stage, with organizers and security authorities enhancing coordination to ensure smooth operations and the safety of runners, spectators, volunteers, and staff.
A second security coordination meeting took place at the Central Amman Police Directorate to finalize security and operational arrangements ahead of race day. Officials discussed security deployment plans, traffic management along race routes, and measures to ensure the safety of participants and the public. The meeting also reviewed race routes, gathering areas, start and finish points, as well as temporary road closures and traffic diversions.
Emergency response strategies and communication mechanisms among the involved agencies were examined to ensure an effective response to any situations that may arise during the event.
The marathon will feature a 42.195-kilometer race, a relay race over the same distance, a 21-kilometer half marathon, and a 10-kilometer race. There will also be dedicated categories for people with disabilities in the 21-kilometer and 10-kilometer races.
Participants emphasized the importance of maintaining close field coordination and a high level of readiness to provide a safe and organized environment for all involved. The security meeting is part of broader preparations by the Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan) in cooperation with security agencies and other relevant authorities.
The 42.195-kilometer and 21-kilometer races are set to start at 6 a.m., while the 10-kilometer race will begin at 9 a.m.
