Amman:Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah inaugurated the fourth edition of Amman Design Week (ADW) at the Ras El Ain Hangar, with the event set to open for public visits this Friday. The event, which runs from October 2 to October 17, offers free access to all exhibitions and programs.
According to Jordan News Agency, Queen Rania established ADW in 2016, and this year's edition is held in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality. The event's program is extensive, featuring exhibitions, workshops, talks, student and community events, and cultural activities spread across Ras El Ain, Jabal Al Lweibdeh, Jabal Amman, Iraq Al Amir, and, for the first time, Aqaba.
During the launch, Queen Rania, along with Princess Iman bint Abdullah II and other Royal Family members, toured the Hangar Exhibition with ADW co-directors Sarah Hejazin and Bisher Tabaa. The exhibition showcases works from designers and artists hailing from Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, India, and Armenia.
The theme 'Accumulations' unifies this year's event, gathering 220 designers, makers, and innovators from Jordan and beyond. Their work is displayed across 59 participating spaces and involves 204 events. The theme examines the evolution of design and its impact on daily life, city planning, urban transformation, manufacturing, and environmental protection.
Amman Design Week aims to promote local and regional design and culture, positioning Amman as a hub for innovation and artistic expression. Beyond the two-week event, ADW also provides year-round learning programs to support designers and craftspeople.
