Royal Jordanian Airforce Join Efforts to Extinguish Forest Fire in Ajloun, Jerash

Amman: Two Black Hawk helicopters affiliated to the Royal Jordanian Air Force took part on Friday in efforts to extinguish a forest fire that broke out in wooded areas between Ajloun and Jerash governorates, supporting Civil Defense teams and other authorities working at the scene.

According to Jordan News Agency, the two helicopters conducted aerial sorties to put out pockets of fire and support firefighting teams on the ground, amid the rugged mountainous terrain and the difficulty of reaching some areas affected by the blaze.

The fire broke out in the Jabal Abu Al-Nimr area in Ajloun Governorate before spreading toward the Umm Jozah area, within the jurisdiction of the Al-Maarad Brigade in Jerash Governorate. It burned approximately 25 dunums of forested land.

Joint efforts by the Royal Jordanian Air Force, Civil Defense teams and other relevant authorities helped contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Specialized teams continued cooling and monitoring operations to ensure that the flames did not reignite.
