Jordan and Peru Set to Initiate Political Consultations

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on Monday with Peru's Foreign Minister Carlos Esp¡. The two ministers discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in areas serving the interests of both countries, particularly economic and tourism cooperation, as well as coordination within international organizations.

According to Jordan News Agency, they agreed to hold the first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries at the earliest opportunity, in implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed by Jordan and Peru in 2005. The ministers also discussed regional developments and efforts to end the escalation in the region, restore calm and achieve security and stability.

Safadi congratulated Esp¡ on assuming his post as foreign minister and expressed his desire to work together to develop relations between the two friendly countries and coordinate on issues of common interest.
