Aqaba Truck Management Project Logs 445,000 Trips Over Four Months

Amman: A project tasked with organizing the entry and exit of trucks in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone recorded approximately 445,000 truck trips between March 1 and June 30, 2026, under its new operator, Maqta Ayla, as reported by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA). The authority's statement on Wednesday highlighted a daily average of about 3,700 trips throughout the four-month period.

According to Jordan News Agency, June witnessed the highest activity within this timeframe, with completed permits increasing to around 125,000, marking a 20% rise from nearly 105,000 permits in May. A monthly breakdown of completed permits revealed 106,000 in March, 108,000 in April, 105,000 in May, and 125,000 in June. The daily average of trips escalated to approximately 4,200 in June, compared to the overall four-month average of 3,700, with a single-day peak of 4,920 trips recorded during the month.

In comparison to 2025, when the daily average was about 3,000 trips, the average truck traffic during the current period rose by 23%. This indicates an increase in freight flows into the Aqaba zone. The results point to growing logistics activity through Aqaba amid regional developments, emphasizing its role in supporting trade, transport, and supply chains, while underscoring the need for efficient traffic flow management.
