Army Chief Meets US Defense Official, Opens Joint Military Commission Meeting

Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hunaiti met on Wednesday with US Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Daniel Zimmerman and his accompanying delegation to discuss military cooperation and regional stability.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting at the General Command headquarters focused on enhancing the strategic partnership across various defense and security fields to support regional and international stability. The discussions emphasized the importance of unifying efforts and expanding coordination to effectively address current security challenges.

Following the bilateral talks, Maj. Gen. Hunaiti inaugurated the 45th meeting of the U.S.-Jordan Joint Military Commission (JMC 45). The event was attended by the US Ambassador to Jordan, the defense attach©, and senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces. Hunaiti highlighted the robust relations between Jordan and the United States, reiterating Jordan's pivotal role in supporting regional security.

Zimmerman expressed admiration for the professionalism and efficiency of the Jordanian military and reaffirmed Washington's commitment to strengthening military and defense cooperation with Amman. The US Ambassador to Jordan also lauded the partnership, emphasizing the importance of building on past achievements to bolster mutual security interests.

The committee reviewed several key items on its agenda aimed at expanding the defense partnership to achieve shared strategic goals.
