Army Foils Balloon-Borne Drug Smuggling Attempt on Eastern Frontier

Amman: The Eastern Military Zone The Eastern Military Zone early Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle a "large" quantity of narcotics carried by electronically guided balloons. Border Guard units detected the balloons, intercepted them and brought them down with their cargo inside Jordanian territory, in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

According to Jordan News Agency, the seized materials were referred to the relevant authorities for further legal action. In its statement, Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said it continues to deploy its capabilities to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling and safeguard the Kingdom's security and stability.
