Amman: The Petra Cultural Village will host a mass public screening for the national team's upcoming 2026 World Cup match against Argentina at a venue accommodating up to 5,000 spectators, according to Adnan Al Sawair, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).
According to Jordan News Agency, Al Sawair revealed that preparations are underway to create an interactive fan zone for both citizens and tourists at the cultural village. The initiative is designed to revitalize local tourism and foster a celebratory atmosphere to mark the national team's historic participation in the global tournament.
The authority is also coordinating with restaurants and tourism establishments across the city of Petra to broadcast the national team's matches, Al Sawair added. The move aims to allow visitors and residents to follow the squad, known as the "Nashama," while simultaneously boosting commercial and tourism activity in the region.
Al Sawair noted that these events are part of a broader strategy to leverage the momentum of the national team's World Cup run to generate positive economic ripple effects and reinforce Petra's position as a premier destination for domestic and international travelers.
