House Speaker Discusses Parliamentary Cooperation with Canadian Ambassador

Amman: House Speaker Mazen Qadi met on Monday with Canadian Ambassador Louis-Matten Omeh at the Parliament to discuss ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation. Qadi discussed the Kingdom's modernisation process, launched under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and expressed appreciation for Canada's continued support for Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, Qadi called for the realisation of the two-state solution to secure the rights of the Palestinian people. He praised Canada for supporting the two-state solution, as well as its backing of the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Omeh, in turn, said Canada values the "balanced and constructive" positions of His Majesty King Abdullah II in promoting regional security and stability. He said Canada supports the two-state solution and praised the Hashemite Custodianship of the holy sites, as well as the King's efforts to defend Palestinian rights and advance peace.

The ambassador called for enhancing cooperation and expanding the exchange of parliamentary expertise.
