Greater Amman Municipality and Petra University Collaborate to Preserve Heritage and Boost Cultural Tourism

Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and Petra University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the goal of strengthening cooperation in preserving Amman's historical and architectural heritage. The agreement focuses on developing Amman's tourist and cultural routes and promoting its cultural identity.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the Municipality and the University in developing tourist and cultural routes across Amman, conducting joint research and studies on archaeological and tourism sites, and providing field training opportunities for university students specializing in tourism and archaeology. The MoU aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise through workshops, training courses, and conferences, with regular coordination meetings to advance shared objectives.

The agreement includes the organization of joint tourism and cultural events, cooperation in scientific research, training and capacity-building initiatives, and the engagement of students and faculty members in community-based projects and applied research.
