Amman: Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) celebrated the graduation of participants in the "Digital Beginning" project, a four-month training program aimed at developing entrepreneurial projects in digital media and innovation. The ceremony focused on showcasing the participants' achievements and enterprises, highlighting their role in integrating persons with disabilities into the digital labor market for economic empowerment.
According to Jordan News Agency, Ghadeer Alhares, HCD Assistant Secretary-General for Technical Affairs, stated that this graduation signifies the start of a new phase aligned with the rapid digital transformation. The initiative aims to enhance the presence of persons with disabilities in the digital media landscape by developing their technical skills and capabilities. Alhares emphasized the support of His Highness Prince Mired bin Raad, HCD President, for impactful initiatives that promote innovation and creativity among persons with disabilities.
Alhares urged graduates to keep pace with technological advancements and work towards implementing their projects, affirming the council's commitment to supporting them and highlighting their success stories. Dr. Rawan Jiyousi, Director of Madraj, a foundation for digital media leadership, explained that the "Digital Beginning" project underwent three main phases, starting with training, followed by an incubation phase for four entrepreneurial projects. Several enterprises have evolved into smart applications, websites, and specialized digital programs with potential for sustainability and expansion.
Jiyousi highlighted the importance of the private sector in promoting social responsibility and sustainable digital transformation. She noted that the project has produced effective digital content, attracting partnerships and sponsorships that provide real employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The program aims to launch a second season, transforming participating projects into effective startups to attract funding and investment, thus promoting the integration of people with disabilities into society in an innovative manner.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to graduates who successfully completed the program, in the presence of representatives from partner and supporting organizations.
