Amman: Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), inaugurated a state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre (SOC) Lab at the university on Monday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the facility was established through a strategic partnership between PSUT, Jordan Kuwait Bank (JKB), Hayyan Horizons, and Protech. The launch was attended by high-ranking officials, including Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) Deputy Governor Khaldoun Al-Wshah, Jordan Securities Commission Chairman Imad Abu Haltam, and Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) CEO Ezz Eddin Kanakrieh.
Princess Sumaya emphasized that the SOC Lab will play a fundamental role in strengthening Jordan's digital security ecosystem. By training professionals to counter cyber threats, the lab aims to address the rapid challenges within the vital technology sector.
The Princess noted that the lab aligns with the university's vision of transforming theoretical knowledge into integrated practical experience that simulates real-world working environments. She characterized the center as a strategic investment in national talent and advanced technology, designed to function as a training hub modeled after leading international security centers.
Princess Sumaya highlighted that excellence in technical education requires sustained cooperation between the public and private sectors. She praised the partnerships with JKB and the participating tech firms, stating that such collaborations ensure academic curricula remain updated and graduates are market-ready from their first day.
Haethum Buttikhi, CEO of Jordan Kuwait Bank Group, said the bank's support for the center reflects its belief in investing in young Jordanian talent to prepare them for the accelerating digital economy. He described the lab as an advanced platform for students to gain specialized expertise in cybersecurity.
PSUT President Wejdan Abu Elhaija credited the university's academic evolution and its pioneering programs in computing, engineering, and business technology to the continuous guidance of Princess Sumaya. She added that the SOC Lab is a qualitative addition to the university's leadership in cybersecurity.
During the ceremony, students demonstrated live cyberattack and defense scenarios within the lab, showcasing their proficiency in countering digital threats using advanced scientific methodologies.
Ammar Oudeh, Director of the Consultancy and Training Center, explained that the lab will assist students in obtaining specialized international cybersecurity certifications, while faculty member Mohammad Al-Nabhan provided a presentation on the lab's role in bolstering national digital defense capabilities.
