Fayez Holds Talks with Heads of Bahrain’s Parliament on Regional Security and Cooperation

Manama: Senate President Faisal Fayez met in Manama with Bahrain's Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh and Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed Salman Al-Musallam. The discussions focused on enhancing Jordanian-Bahraini relations across various fields and addressing the current regional situation, particularly Iran's aggression against Jordan, Bahrain, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, attended by Jordan's Ambassador to Bahrain, Rami Wreikat, and members of the Shura and Representatives Councils, emphasized the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two kingdoms. The parties highlighted the importance of activating parliamentary work, expanding coordination, exchanging parliamentary expertise, and deepening strategic partnerships to achieve mutual interests.

Fayez, leading a Senate delegation on a visit to Bahrain, underscored the need to build on the growing strategic partnerships and unify parliamentary positions on issues of mutual interest. He noted Jordan's economic challenges stemming from regional conflicts, Israeli occupation policies, and drug-smuggling on its northern border, calling for Arab support to address these burdens.

Discussing the repercussions of the Iranian-American-Israeli war and Iranian attacks on Jordan and Gulf states, Fayez conveyed King Abdullah II's full rejection of these actions, emphasizing that Gulf security is integral to Jordan's security. He advocated for security guarantees for Arab states in any future settlement with Iran and stressed the necessity of boosting the joint Arab security and defense system.

Fayez also called for Arab economic unity to achieve integration, pointing out that Arab states, with their human and economic resources, could become a regional and international power to safeguard their interests and stability. He warned that Iran's expansionist ambitions are as dangerous as Israel's threats in the region.

Bahrain's parliamentary heads reiterated the strong relations and partnerships with Jordan, highlighting the shared strategic coordination and vision on regional challenges. They condemned Iran's aggression and attacks on GCC countries and Jordan as violations of international laws and a threat to regional security and stability.
