Amman: Total electricity sales by the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), a state-owned electricity transmission and bulk supply company, increased by 3.5 percent during the first four months of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to company data.
According to Jordan News Agency, the data released on Monday showed that total electricity sales reached 7,683.2 gigawatt-hours (GWh) during the reporting period, compared with 7,420.6 GWh in the corresponding period of 2025. Sales to the Kingdom's three electricity distribution companies rose by 3.2 percent to 7,404 GWh, compared with 7,171.5 GWh recorded during the same period last year.
Electricity sales to Jordan Electric Power Company (JEPCO), a private electricity distribution company, increased by 4.2 percent to 4,734.6 GWh, compared with 4,544.5 GWh. Meanwhile, electricity consumption by Irbid District Electricity Company declined by 3.5 percent to 1,440.9 GWh, compared with 1,391.9 GWh during the same period last year. Sales to Electricity Distribution Company also edged down by 0.5 percent to 1,228.5 GWh, compared with 1,235.1 GWh.
According to the data, electricity sales to major subscribers increased by 3.7 percent, rising from 149.5 GWh to 155 GWh. Electricity exports recorded a significant increase of 24.7 percent, reaching 124.2 GWh compared with 99.6 GWh during the same period last year. Exports to the Central Electricity Generation Company (CEGCO) in the central region rose by 17.4 percent to 52 GWh, while exports to the Quds District Electricity Company increased by 31.3 percent to 69.6 GWh. Electricity exports through the Trebil border crossing with Iraq also increased by 13 percent to 2.6 GWh, compared with 2.3 GWh during the same period last year.
